Leadership

Student Leadership

“The will of God be done in this and in everything we undertake.” – Marcellin Champagnat

Marcellin Champagnat was a visionary leader who led through actions that demonstrated a deep respect for self and others. In our community, our leadership is characterised by:

· Presence: Be present to people and God.

· Simplicity: Embrace simplicity in actions and decisions.

· Family Spirit: Foster a sense of belonging and unity.

· Love of Work: Demonstrate dedication and a strong work ethic.

· In the Way of Mary: Lead with grace and compassion.

A Mt Maria College student is a servant leader who is present, humble, relational, hardworking, and compassionate.

Students are encouraged to engage in a range of informal leadership opportunities throughout the year. These include but are not limited to:

· acts of service (volunteer work both inside and outside the College context)

· peer mentoring and tutoring

· being a College committee member (Stewardship, Social Justice and Wellbeing committees)

· leading lunchtime and afterschool clubs alongside supervising staff

· Year 11 buddy program

These opportunities allow students to develop their leadership skills in a supportive environment, fostering a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and initiative.
